Vinous
"Highly precise, this is a sumptuous red".
Jean-Michel Gérin's Les Grandes Places is a complex Côte-Rôtie with powerful aromas of black fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant), cocoa and chocolate, incense, olive and licorice. The nose is rounded out by spicy notes of pepper and allspice and a delicate floral touch. On the palate, this is a dense, rich, complex and silky wine. It offers concentrated flavors of blackberry, cherry liqueur, smoke, spice and candied violet. The tannins are structured yet remarkably fine. The finish is long and persistent. - Very limited quantities.

About the domain :
Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin was created in 1983 with the purchase of a parcel of vines in Côte-Rôtie. Jean-Michel comes from a family that has been established in the region for 6 generations. The estate's first cuvée was created in 1987, following the integration of the family vineyards (those of Marcel and Alfred Guerin) into the Jean-Michel Gerin estate. In 1988, the estate carried out its first separate vinification, first on the "Les Grandes Places" plot, then in 1996 with grapes from the "La Landonne" parcel. In the early 1990s, Jean-Michel Gerin undertook the construction of a new winery and barrel cellar. The vineyard expanded in 2003, with the planting of the "La viallière" parcel in Côte-Rôtie, on slopes ranging from 40% to 60%. The first vintages are produced in 2009. Michaël and Alexis Gerin later joined the Jean-Michel Gerin estate, which expanded to a dozen hectares in the 2010s.
