"An exceptional vintage!"
“The 2023 Côte Rôtie Champon’s offers a beautiful array of red and black fruits intertwined with notes of spicy herbs, loamy earth, graphite, and a few floral hints. It is well-balanced, with an elegant and well-structured palate, and enough tannins to warrant 2 to 3 years of cellaring. It should age gracefully. ” (Jeb Dunnuck 2025)

Eye
A crystal-clear color with deep, dark purple hues and mahogany and ebony highlights
Nose
Expressive, generous, and open. The syrupy concentration of fruit rivals the intensity of the floral, spicy, and roasted notes: fresh wood, mocha, Damask rose, smoked bacon, cherries in juice and plums in alcohol, vanilla, cocoa, and Sichuan pepper.
Palate
Opulent and vibrant, it exudes a mature power, enhanced by the warm, spicy richness of its aromas, the silky depth of its texture, and the refined firmness of its structure.

About the estate:
After studying in Beaune, followed by experience in the United States and the Bordeaux region at his wife’s estate (Ch. Filliol), Stéphane Pichat returned to his homeland to breathe new life into this historic property, founded by his great-grandparents. Settling in 2000, he began bottling his own wines and, working with 5 hectares in Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu, has consistently produced wines of impeccable quality.
