88/100
Jeb Dunnuck
Crushed strawberries, garrigue, spices, a full-bodied and fresh palate, and a lingering finish. Here is a delightful and easy-drinking red for all your gatherings. Make no mistake, this is indeed wine—and not just any wine. The vinification and aging of this wine, made without added sulfites, results in a lively, authentic natural wine through which the full richness of the terroir and the Sabon family’s expertise is expressed.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)
About the estate:
Isabelle Sabon, the sister of Christophe Sabon (La Janasse), purchased the Saint-Antonin estate (15 hectares in Jonquière) in 2014. A combination of a land opportunity and a business strategy, Clos Saint-Antonin offers La Janasse the possibility of a “second” wine. With just under two hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, sourced from the La Janasse estate, this new label produced an excellent vintage in 2016, characterized by a rich and precise style.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
A regular in the Guide, often highly rated for its Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes-du-Rhône, and local wines. A 90-hectare vineyard scattered across multiple plots, managed by Christophe Sabon and his sister Isabelle, children of Aimé Sabon, who founded the estate in 1973. The estate was expanded in 2015 with the purchase of Clos Saint-Antonin and its 15 hectares of vines in the commune of Jonquière.

About the estate:
This 15-hectare estate, comprising an enclosed vineyard and an old farmhouse in Jonquière, was acquired in late 2014 by the Sabon family, who already owned the Domaine de la Janasse in Courthézon. A winery is scheduled to be built soon.

A full-bodied wine, with an initial burst of red fruit flavors, followed by a finish of dark fruit. It’s delicious—and sulfur-free!
