Domaine Gassier - Côtes-du-Rhône rouge 2020
90-92/100
Jeb Dunnuck
“The 2020 Côtes du Rhône should be breathtaking and rival any existing Côtes du Rhône. Blended from 75% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, and 10% Syrah, it offers abundant notes of ground pepper and dried flowers, along with a superb core of blackberry and black cherry. It’s a full-bodied delight that still retains elegance and complexity.” (Jeb Dunnuck 2022)

About the estate:
With a highly pragmatic approach and sound principles, Michel Gassier restructured the vineyard and gave himself the means to produce fine wines, both white and red. The prestigious vintages named Joseph Torrès reach their full potential after one to three years in the bottle, while the other wines can be enjoyed right from their earliest days.

Review and comment by Mr. GILLES D. Published on June 1, 2022
On the palate, supple yet powerful and slender, it displays a rich aromatic profile of ripe black berries, complemented by notes of garrigue and forest floor. It is remarkably well-balanced, with a refreshingly crisp finish featuring hints of violet and pepper. From the excellent 2020 vintage, this approachable CDR, with its light tannins, is ready to drink now and pairs beautifully with Sète bluefin tuna steaks served with olives and capers. At this price, it’s worth stocking up by the case—especially since it still has several great years ahead of it! Rating: 3.9.
