Le Clos des Saumanes

Le Clos des Saumanes is located in Châteauneuf-de-Gadagne, near Avignon, in the heart of a vineyard dating back to the 13th century. Since 2012, the INAO has recognized the distinctive character of the Châteauneuf-de-Gadagne terroir. The estate has been owned by Robert and Martine Janer since 2007, where they work in collaboration with Xavier Vignon, one of the leading wine producers and viticultural consultants in the southern Rhône Valley.

Le Clos des Saumanes forms a single, contiguous vineyard covering more than 25 hectares, surrounded by Mediterranean forest and scrubland. The vineyard is cultivated using sustainable farming practices, with low and controlled yields, on high terraces with fairly deep soils dominated by pebbles—generally large—embedded in a sandy-clay matrix.

Tranquility, unspoiled nature, fabulous terroir… Martine and Robert Janer knew instinctively that this was where they would make the wines they love.
