"A Crozes-Hermitage that's far too alluring!"

“Sourced primarily from the Chassis region, with a few vineyards located in the northern part of the appellation, the 2022 Crozes-Hermitage Les Launes is charming and straightforward, with fragrant red fruit aromas, lavender, bouquet garni, and spicy and floral notes. It is medium-bodied, straightforward, with supple tannins and a lovely finish. Best enjoyed between 2025 and 2035.” (Jeb Dunnuck 2025)

About the estate:

At his new facilities in the heart of Tain, Jacques Grange has a magnificent, state-of-the-art facility at his disposal. He is assisted by Marco Beckmann, an Italian oenologist and expert taster. The upcoming vintages look promising. In Hermitage, the new cuvée from the Grandes Vignes at the top of the hill brings this underutilized terroir to the forefront.

About the estate:

Founded in 1835, the house has been owned by Champagne Deutz (Roederer Group) since 1977. Under the leadership of Fabrice Rosset and his technical director, Jacques Grange, it owns 30 hectares of vineyards in the northern appellations, supplemented by purchased grapes; the southern range comes from the négociant-éleveur division.

About the estate:

Part of the Deutz Champagne house since 1977—which is itself part of the Louis Roederer Group—Delas is a reputable winery. Priority has been given to vineyards with extensive mass-selection plantings. The house cultivates 30 hectares of its own vineyards, including 10 very well-located plots in Hermitage: 8 in Les Bessards and 2 in L’Ermite. The house rounds out its lineup by purchasing must or grapes. We admit to being a bit cautious at times regarding the overly pronounced aging profiles of the most prestigious vintages, which, in our opinion, would benefit from being crafted to highlight the fruit and freshness more closely. It’s worth noting that, since 2019, the winery has had a brand-new winemaking and reception facility in Tain.

About the wine:

An elegant, medium-bodied Crozes-Hermitage with the richness and structure expected of this appellation. A certain stony minerality on the moderately dry finish. A pure Syrah with only 12.5% alcohol. Ready to drink or suitable for aging.
