Maison Delas Frères
Maison Delas Frères, founded in 1835, has now regained all its former glory and the spirit that made it famous. Owned by the Champagne house Deutz, Maison Delas Frères has undergone significant investments (a new winery, complete renovation of the aging cellar) and has assembled an extremely motivated team, led by Jacques Grange, who proudly contributes to the qualitative revival of this great wine merchant house in the Rhône Valley.
Delas Frères cultivates 30 hectares of vineyards in the Rhône Valley: 10 hectares in the Hermitage appellation, 2 in the Saint-Joseph AOC, and 18 in Crozes-Hermitage. A selection of the finest terroirs and a supply of grapes at optimal ripeness round out the production. Delas Frères is committed to respecting the unique character of each terroir, whether on its own estates or through its grape sourcing. Plots from the finest terroirs are thus vinified and aged separately before being blended to reveal the profound character of the wines from each of Delas Frères’ appellations. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness and fully destemmed to avoid overly harsh and herbaceous tannins; vinification is carried out using traditional methods. Depending on the vintage, the red wines are aged in Burgundy barrels for 12 to 24 months, while the whites are aged on fine lees for 6 to 8 months to develop richness and structure.
