“A superb Saint-Joseph with a distinct terroir”
“Very fresh aromas of blackberry and raspberry. A smooth, silky style, very juicy, with good acidity and a freshness that makes it ready to drink now. A fairly delicate yet proper and classic expression of St-Joseph, with very fine tannins.” (Decanter 2024)

About the estate:
The Gripa family arrived in Saint-Péray in the 17th century and later settled in Mauves around 1850. A trusted name in the northern Rhône Valley, renowned for both its Saint-Péray and Saint-Joseph wines (as evidenced by the numerous Favorites in both appellations), the estate has been managed since 2001 by Fabrice Gripa, son of Bernard, who now oversees 18 hectares of vineyards.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 93/100
Rated estate (2024 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
Fabrice Gripa carries on his father’s legacy at the Mauves estate, the only one that produces as many white wines as reds. He has a perfect command of his craft, producing a range of cuvées with distinct personalities. The whites stand out in four cuvées: two Saint-Péray and two Saint-Joseph. The reds are fruit-forward, with a sense of integrity and admirable aging management. A consistent estate producing wines of very high quality.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 92/100
About the wine:
This wine has a deep purple/ruby color and offers aromas of violet and black olive on the nose, with hints of game and iron. It is medium-bodied, well-concentrated, balanced, and elegant, with fine tannins. Although it lacks the density or minerality of Le Berceau, the 2023 Saint Joseph shines in every respect and is an incredibly satisfying Saint Joseph to drink over the next 10 to 15 years.
