“A Saint-Péray full of subtlety”

“Aromas of cashews on the nose and apricot pastries on the palate. Fresh, with a balanced mineral touch, this wine is long, concentrated, fresh, full-bodied, and perfectly balanced; simply delicious. The vines are grown on clay-limestone soil over granite; aged in barrels and demi-muids.” (Decanter 2025)

Rated estate (2024 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

The Gripa family arrived in Saint-Péray in the 17th century and later settled in Mauves around 1850. A trusted name in the northern Rhône Valley, renowned for both its Saint-Péray and Saint-Joseph wines (as evidenced by the numerous Favorites in both appellations), the estate has been managed since 2001 by Fabrice Gripa, son of Bernard, who now oversees 18 hectares of vineyards.

Rated estate (2024 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

Fabrice Gripa carries on his father’s legacy at the Mauves estate, the only one that produces as many white wines as reds. He has a perfect command of his craft, producing a range of cuvées with distinct personalities. The whites stand out in four cuvées: two Saint-Péray and two Saint-Joseph. The reds are fruit-forward, with a sense of integrity and admirable aging management. A consistent estate producing wines of very high quality.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 92/100

About the wine:

Produced in slightly larger quantities and composed of 70% Marsanne and 30% Roussanne, the 2024 Saint-Péray Les Pins comes from the same terroir as Les Figuiers, but with an extra touch of approachability. Lively aromas of melon, candied orange, chalky minerality, and a few spicy notes shine through in this medium-bodied, lively, fresh, and concentrated Saint-Péray. It is well-balanced and exhibits the vintage’s fresh, concentrated style along with exceptional length. Best enjoyed between 2026 and 2030.
