“Marsanne Concentrate”

"Made from 100% Marsanne and aged in 228-liter barrels with regular stirring of the lees, the 2023 Saint Joseph Le Berceau Blanc reveals aromas of honeyed stone fruit, crushed stone, and ripe citrus, with a lovely minerality. Clean, pure, and balanced, with integrated acidity, medium body, and impressive length on the palate, this magnificent white should be enjoyed within the next 7 to 8 years, though it will also age well beyond that.” (Jeb Dunnuck 2025)

Wine rated (2024 guide) 94/100

About the wine:

Aromas of honey and honeysuckle. The wine is full-bodied, rich, and powerful, with notes of roasted pineapple, pastry cream, and a noble bitterness; it is truly impressive. Notes of marzipan on the long finish. Hand-harvested Marsanne from old vines grown on granite. Fermented in 228-liter oak barrels, then aged on fine lees until the end of malolactic fermentation.

Rated estate (2024 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

The Gripa family arrived in Saint-Péray in the 17th century and later settled in Mauves around 1850. A trusted name in the northern Rhône Valley, renowned for both its Saint-Péray and Saint-Joseph wines (as evidenced by the numerous Favorites in both appellations), the estate has been managed since 2001 by Fabrice Gripa, son of Bernard, who now oversees 18 hectares of vineyards.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 94/100

Rated estate (2024 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

Fabrice Gripa carries on his father’s legacy at the Mauves estate, the only one that produces as many white wines as reds. He has a perfect command of his craft, producing a range of cuvées with distinct personalities. The whites stand out in four cuvées: two Saint-Péray and two Saint-Joseph. The reds, meanwhile, are fruit-forward, with a sense of integrity and admirable aging management. A consistent estate producing wines of very high quality.
