About the estate:

The Gripa family arrived in Saint-Péray in the 17th century and later settled in Mauves around 1850. A trusted name in the northern Rhône Valley, both for its Saint-Péray and Saint-Joseph wines (as evidenced by the numerous Favorites in both appellations), the estate has been run since 2001 by Fabrice Gripa, son of Bernard, who now oversees 18 hectares of vineyards.

About the wine:

The 2024 Saint-Joseph Blanc, made from Marsanne grapes grown on granitic soils, opens with a lively, floral bouquet of white peach and menthol. Medium- to full-bodied, it is round and fleshy, offering a textured palate with less pronounced acidity but a lovely balance. A noble bitterness lends it structure, lingering into a long, briny, and airy finish. This is a truly beautiful Saint-Joseph Blanc that combines a rich, indulgent character with lovely depth.

About the estate:

Fabrice Gripa carries on his father’s legacy at the sole Mauves estate, which produces as many white wines as reds. He has a perfect command of his craft, producing various cuvées with distinct personalities. The whites stand out in four cuvées: two Saint-Péray and two Saint-Joseph. The reds, meanwhile, are fruit-forward, with integrity and admirable aging management. A consistent estate producing wines of very high quality.

Medium-bodied and very refined, the 2024 is a remarkably elegant white Saint-Joseph, crafted by the talented Bernard Gripa, with a gentle, lingering finish enhanced by alluring mineral accents.

About the wine:

Aromas of stone fruit, honeyed orange, crushed stone, and subtle floral notes emerge from the 2024 Saint Joseph Blanc, a blend of 70% Marsanne and 30% Roussanne aged in 600-liter and 228-liter barrels. It is medium-bodied and offers a pure, complex, and elegant palate, superb acidity, and a lovely finish. This is a magnificent white Saint-Joseph that will benefit from a year of bottle aging and will shine over the next decade. Best enjoyed between 2027 and 2037.
