Domaine Bernard Gripa - Saint-Joseph Le Berceau rouge 2024
91-93/100
Vinous
"One of the finest Syrahs in the appellation!"
“Ground graphite, notes of freshly picked black plums, blackberries, and a delicate hint of wood smoke open the 2024 Saint-Joseph Le Berceau. Enveloped in ripe tannins, this medium- to full-bodied wine is a particularly compact Le Berceau, distinguished by its elegant austerity and superb overall freshness in this early stage. ” (Vinous 2026)

About the estate:
The Gripa family arrived in Saint-Péray in the 17th century and settled in Mauves around 1850. A trusted name in the northern Rhône Valley, renowned for both its Saint-Péray and Saint-Joseph wines (as evidenced by the numerous Favorites in both appellations), the estate has been managed since 2001 by Fabrice Gripa, son of Bernard, who now oversees 18 hectares of vineyards.

Rated estate (2024 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
Fabrice Gripa carries on his father’s legacy at the Mauves estate, the only one that produces as many white wines as reds. He has a perfect command of his craft, producing a range of cuvées with distinct personalities. The whites stand out in four cuvées: two Saint-Péray and two Saint-Joseph. The reds are fruit-forward, with a sense of integrity and admirable aging management. A consistent estate producing wines of very high quality.
