"A subtle Saint-Péray"

"Aromas of cashew nuts on the nose and apricot pastries on the palate. Fresh, with a balanced mineral touch, this wine is long, concentrated, fresh, full-bodied and perfectly balanced; simply delicious. Vines grown on clay-limestone soil over granite; aged in barrels and demi-muids." (Decanter 2025)

Rated estate (2024 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the estate:

The Gripa family arrived in Saint-Péray in the 17th century, then settled in Mauves around 1850. A sure bet in the northern Rhône Valley, both for its Saint-Péray and Saint-Joseph wines (as evidenced by the numerous Favorites in both appellations), the estate has been run since 2001 by Fabrice Gripa, son of Bernard, who now manages 18 hectares of vineyards.

Rated estate (2024 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the estate:

Fabrice Gripa continues his father's work in the Mauves estate, which produces as many white wines as reds. He is a master of his craft, producing a range of wines with strong personalities. The whites are represented by four cuvées: two Saint-Péray and two Saint-Joseph. The reds are fruit-forward, with integrity and admirable aging. A consistent estate producing wines of very high quality.

About wine:

A blend of 70% Marsanne and 30% Roussanne, the Saint-Péray Les Pins 2024 opens with lively aromas of lemon flesh, apple skin, fresh pear slices, and flint. Medium-bodied and racy, the 2024 is a delicious Saint-Péray ready to drink upon release, ending with a long citrus finish.

About wine:

Produced in slightly larger quantities, composed of 70% Marsanne and 30% Roussanne, Saint-Péray Les Pins 2024 comes from the same terroir as Les Figuiers, but with an extra touch of accessibility. Lively aromas of melon, candied orange, chalky minerality, and a few spicy nuances shine through in this medium-bodied, lively, fresh, and concentrated Saint-Péray. It is well-balanced and displays the fresh, concentrated style of the vintage as well as exceptional length. Drink between 2026 and 2030.
