Full-bodied, rich, and generous, yet smooth and supple on the palate. The oak is currently quite prominent, but it should mellow with time. A classic St-Péray in terms of its charm and elegance. Low acidity, yet still fresh. Grown on clay-limestone soils; aged in barrels.

About the estate:

The Gripa family arrived in Saint-Péray in the 17th century and later settled in Mauves around 1850. A trusted name in the northern Rhône Valley, renowned for both its Saint-Péray and Saint-Joseph wines (as evidenced by the numerous Favorites in both appellations), the estate has been managed since 2001 by Fabrice Gripa, son of Bernard, who now oversees 18 hectares of vineyards.

About the estate:

Fabrice Gripa carries on his father’s legacy at the Mauves estate, the only one that produces as many white wines as reds. He has a perfect command of his craft, producing a range of cuvées with distinct personalities. The whites stand out in four cuvées: two Saint-Péray and two Saint-Joseph. The reds are fruit-forward, with a sense of integrity and admirable aging management. A consistent estate producing wines of very high quality.

A fragrant blend of 60% Roussanne and 40% Marsanne, the 2024 Saint-Péray Les Figuiers stands out for its pronounced aromas of verbena, yellow apple, and ripe pear. Subtle pastry notes add even more nuance. Medium-bodied and concentrated, the 2024 offers exceptional liveliness, with a slight hint of wet stone on a mineral finish.

About the wine:

Composed of 60% Roussanne and 40% Marsanne, aged in 228-liter French oak barrels, the Saint-Péray Les Figuiers 2024 is one of the best wines of the appellation, as well as of the vintage. Aromas of ripe stone fruit, orange blossom, minty flowers, and ample minerality unfold on the nose. It is medium-bodied, with a fresh, concentrated palate and a lovely finish. It is already delicious today, but it can still be enjoyed for another ten years or so.
