About the wine:
Deep garnet with violet hues. A spicy, generous nose offering black berries, plum, licorice, and wild herbs. Dense on the palate with good structure and excellent texture; young with firm tannins, abundant black berry flavors with notes of spicy garrigue; a warm, ripe wine with balanced freshness and good length.

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Published on April 17, 2023
A well-structured, affordable regional wine. Born from a harmonious blend of Grenache Noir and Carignan, this delightful wine boasts an expressive, powerful character, rich in candied black fruits with balsamic notes, skillfully paired with rich hints of smoke, licorice, and spices. The whole is built on a tight, tannic structure. The body is concentrated and full-bodied, with an enveloping, velvety texture. The earthy and briny notes on the finish enhance the depth and add a particularly pleasant touch of freshness. Overall, the 14.5% ABV does not weigh the wine down at all; on the contrary, it contributes to the volume on the palate while preserving a surprisingly soft and refined texture. For over 10 years, quality and maturity have characterized the vintages from Thunevin-Calvet. They are on full display in the elegant 2018 Constance, perfect for a tasting with friends over a delicious wild rabbit stew served with carrot rice. The price remains as reasonable as ever; a solid 4-star rating without a moment’s hesitation.
