Calvet-Thunevin

Domaine Calvet-Thunevin was founded in 2001 when Jean-Luc Thunevin, owner of Château Valandraud in Saint-Emilion, met Jean-Roger Calvet, a young winegrower from the Maury region in Roussillon. Initially modest in size, Domaine Calvet-Thunevin now covers 60 hectares of vineyards. Domaine Calvet-Thunevin is located in the Maury appellation area, with vineyards extending over soil consisting mainly of schistose marl, with a few clay-limestone and granite plots.

The grape varieties grown at Domaine Calvet-Thunevin are mainly Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan, along with Mourvèdre and a few other varieties. The vineyard is cultivated using environmentally friendly methods, without chemical weed control and with treatments that have the least possible impact on the environment. The grapes at Domaine Calvet-Thunevin are harvested by hand and sorted in the vineyard and in the cellar. Depending on the cuvée, the wines are aged either in cement vats or in barrels. In 2008, Domaine Calvet-Thunevin acquired a new winery, incorporating the most modern ecological solutions and providing an efficient working environment to guarantee the quality of its Côtes du Roussillon Villages, Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes and Maury wines.
