Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2024 guide): 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
The brother of the famous Jo Pithon, a leading figure in the Layon hillsides in the 1990s, Olivier Pithon fell in love with the terroirs of Calce, where his adventure began in 2001. A fervent advocate of biodynamics, he imbues his wines with a distinct identity—wines that are rich and delicious and easy to enjoy.

Wine rated (2016 guide) 14,5/20 (Good wine)
Rated Estate (2024 Guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the wine:
Delicate and smooth, this white wine is accented with subtle salty notes.
About the estate:
This is the story of a winemaker from Anjou, who had spent time in Bordeaux, and who fell in love with the village of Calce in 2000. In 2001, Olivier Pithon found about 7 hectares in the area and immediately purchased his first biodynamic preparation to implement biodynamic practices. The estate was certified in 2010. Today, it spans 22 hectares across three areas with distinct geological compositions (schist, marl, and clay-limestone). The winery, built just outside the village, also allows the winemaker to produce his small-scale wine business using grapes from high-quality growers who share his philosophy. All the wines are full of charm, with very delicate textures on the palate and plenty of energy. Always lively, expressive, and juicy, these wines develop added body and tension in the age-worthy vintages. A benchmark estate.

Well, very dry—don't look for depth or roundness.
