"Gourmandise and Generosity"

This 100% Grenache Noir impresses with its aromatic complexity. On the nose, notes of crushed red fruit, spices, and a hint of smoke rise from the glass. The palate continues with fine, silky tannins that delicately coat the flavors on the nose. Despite its generous alcohol content, the wine remains very digestible and refined. This cuvée calls for indulgence!

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2020 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Brigitte Verdaguer and her husband Jean-Hubert, specialists in timeless sweet amber wines, passionately cultivate the twenty hectares of this estate located in the commune of Latour-de-France. The plots are plowed using a horse. Today, their daughter Delphine is taking over the reins, and we are following this change closely. As their estate is the oldest private winery in the village, the amber Rivesaltes wines are still produced, aging in old, timeless casks. You will still find very old bottles dating back to the 1940s. An invaluable treasure for any wine lover.

About the estate:

Brigitte and Jean-Hubert Verdaguer have been running the family estate (now 17 hectares of organic land) in the heart of the village of Latour-de-France since 1989. Since its foundation in 1920, this estate has focused on naturally sweet wines aged for long periods in oak barrels, particularly Rivesaltes, although at the turn of the century it began producing dry wines, both AOC and IGP. Another of the winemakers' passions is dry Rancio, an IGP wine.

Rated estate (2020 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About the estate:

This historic estate in the Agly Valley is now owned by Jean-Hubert Verdaguer and his wife Brigitte, who have been assisted since 2006 by their eldest daughter Delphine. In 2001, the Verdaguer family added a range of dry wines to their selection of old Rivesaltes wines, the jewel in the crown of the estate's production. Both in the vineyard and in the cellar, the work is carried out with great care. While the red wines are of a high standard, it is above all the admirable natural sweet wines (including a collection of old vintages dating back to 1919) that ensure the reputation of this estate. This is a benchmark estate that deserves the attention of wine lovers, essential for the historical value of its wines, which are among those that most proudly affirm the uniqueness of Catalan wine-growing history.
