Robert Parker

The 2010 Maury Hecht & Bannier is surprisingly fruity for a wine of this appellation, highlighted by notes of strawberry and raspberry, with roasted, resinous, and crushed stone accents. With 90g of residual sugar, it is very well balanced by the appellation's standards, i.e. not too sweet or cloying. Enjoy it until 2017 or beyond." (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2016 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Grégory Hecht and François Bannier have breathed new life into the region, specializing from the outset, in 2002, in high-quality, ambitious, and original wine trading. Carefully selecting their grapes from across the Mediterranean, from Roussillon to Provence, they meticulously vinify and age ambitious vintages that often hit the mark. Every year, they visit several hundred estates to select only the finest grapes and the best juices, most often from hillside vineyards.

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2015) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

About wine:

Established ten years ago in Aix-en-Provence, this wine merchant aims to showcase the richness and quality of Mediterranean wines: its activities include selecting vineyards, blending, and aging. For this Maury, the focus was on preserving the fruit and finesse. Supple, tender, and fresh, the wine reveals aromas of Bigarreau cherries on a silky, mellow tannic structure with subtle spice notes. A Maury to be enjoyed chilled as an aperitif or with blue cheese on toast.

Rated estate (2016 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About the estate:

Grégory Hecht and François Bannier continue to run their wine trading and production business specializing in wines from the Mediterranean region (Languedoc, Roussillon, and Provence), breathing new life into an area lacking in initiatives of this kind. The selection is rigorous, with a precise and aromatic style that cleverly avoids the influence of new wood. While we applaud the work accomplished and the consistency of the most ambitious vintages, with Faugères and Saint-Chinian among the best in their respective appellations, the range also shows some weaknesses.
