Note: Hachette Guide 2** (Remarkable Wine) + Editor’s Choice
“Louis Trosset lets ‘nature take its course.’ The 2011 vintage is dark purple, with a nose of licorice, strawberry, and violet, chocolate, and prune—a wine of rare complexity. On the palate, it is vibrant and powerful, though still somewhat closed; it will take until 2017 for it to fully open up. At that point, this wine should be served with a rare rib of beef.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2013)

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Rated estate (2012 guide): 4* Stars (Very high-quality production)
About the estate:
“Louis and Joseph Trosset pay homage to the Mondeuse, Savoie’s quintessential difficult and demanding grape variety. It tolerates neither mediocrity nor average ripeness. At the estate, across 4.50 hectares, the Trosset sons have come to understand it and cultivate it with great care. The vintages are therefore often marvelous—vibrant, peppery, and spicy...”

Rated estate (2013 guide) 2* Stars (These exceptional estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
“This 4-hectare estate is situated on the beautiful hillsides of the village of Arbin, a terroir particularly suited to the Mondeuse grape. Expertly managed by two brothers, Joseph (in the vineyard) and Louis (in the cellar), the family-owned property features vines with an average age of 25 years. The soil is carefully tilled, winemaking is carried out on a plot-by-plot basis, fermentation follows traditional methods, and aging in tanks lasts 8 to 12 months. The Mondeuse wines possess incredible character and stand out for their elegance and aromatic purity, often with a fresh, anise-like note. The very small production volumes make this estate a hidden gem, yet it produces wines of consistent quality with great aging potential.”
