“Light and easy to drink, the 2014 Monfarina kicks things off. Easy to drink: this is a hallmark of this estate, where many wines have an alcohol content of 10.5%, 10%, or even 9.5%... yet there is no hint of underripeness or harsh acidity: the wines are fresh but flavorful, with a gentle acidity. ” (The Guide to the Best Wines of France 2016 - RVF) This white wine with mountainous notes pairs very well with seasonal dishes, particularly those featuring cheese.

Wine rated (2016 guide) 15/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2016 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

Light and easy to drink, the 2014 Monfarina kicks things off. Easy to drink: this is a hallmark of this estate, where many wines have an alcohol content of 10.5%, 10%, or even 9.5%... yet there is no hint of underripeness or harsh acidity: the wines are fresh but flavorful, with a gentle acidity.

About the estate:

David and Frédéric Giachino, who settled here in 1988, cultivate about ten hectares. The vineyards are located in Chapareillan, near Mont Granier, facing the Bauges massif and overlooking the Isère Valley. Certified organic since 2008, the estate harvests by hand, vinifies using indigenous yeasts, and adds no SO2 other than during bottling. The result? Excellent raw materials vinified gently, yielding wines that are understated, healthy, and easy to drink, in both white and red. The rare Persan grape variety perhaps yields its finest expression here. The range is remarkably consistent, which earned the estate its first star last year.

It's a little hard on the stomach because of the acidity... I use it for cooking...

It's unremarkable, and I don't detect the variety's characteristic traits
