“Understated and easy to drink, the 2014 Monfarina kicks things off. Easy to drink: this is a hallmark of this estate, where many wines have alcohol levels of 10.5%, 10%, or even 9.5%... yet there’s no sign of underripeness or harsh acidity: the wines are fresh but flavorful, with a gentle touch of acidity. ” (The Guide to the Best Wines of France 2016 - RVF) This white wine with mountainous notes pairs very well with seasonal dishes, particularly those featuring cheese.

About the wine:
Understated and easy to drink, the 2014 Monfarina kicks things off. Easy to drink: this is a hallmark of this estate, where many wines have alcohol levels of 10.5%, 10%, or even 9.5%... yet there’s no sign of underripeness or harsh acidity: the wines are fresh but flavorful, with a gentle touch of acidity.
About the estate:
David and Frédéric Giachino, who settled here in 1988, cultivate about ten hectares. The vineyards are located in Chapareillan, near Mont Granier, facing the Bauges Mountains and overlooking the Isère Valley. Certified organic since 2008, the estate harvests by hand, ferments using native yeasts, and adds no SO₂ except at bottling. The result? Excellent raw materials vinified gently, yielding understated, wholesome, and easy-to-drink wines, both white and red. The rare Persan grape variety perhaps produces its finest expression here. The range is remarkably consistent, which helped the estate earn its first star last year.

It's a little hard on the stomach because of the acidity... I use it for cooking...

It's run-of-the-mill, and I can't taste the variety's distinctive character.
