Wine rated (guide 2025) 93/100 (Vintage 2022)

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with good production levels, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the domain :

Bergerac, in the extreme south-east of the appellation: from his plots on the limestone plateau and deep-clay hillsides, worked organically, Julien Auroux looks to the future with serenity. His wines have turned their backs on the Bergerac past, which sought to ape the reds of Bordeaux by forgetting the soil. He, on the contrary, is committed to salinity, frank and precise aromatic expression, with indigenous yeast and almost no added sulfur. He rehabilitates grapes from the past for a return to the future. The range draws from the acidity of the soils a digestible presence and climbs a step this year.

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 06/10/2025

Just the right amount of freshness in a basket of juicy, crunchy fruit, the palate is powerful, fleshy and energetic, yet tender and suave thanks to enveloping, velvety tannins with remarkable aromatic persistence. Price as wise as ever. A pure delight with an autumn salad of mesclum, Bayonne ham petals, diced old cantal, Bordeaux cep mushroom strips and walnut kernels. Score = 4.1.
