Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

Cathy and Daniel Fournié took over this 30-hectare estate in 1998, and it has been certified organic since 2012. As self-taught winemakers, they sought advice from neighboring vintners. They learned quickly and effectively, as evidenced by the regular features of their wines in these pages. Their daughter Mathilde joined them in 2015.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 91/100

Rated estate (2023 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Cathy and Daniel Fournié have been running the estate since 1998, and the vineyards have been farmed organically since 2009. The reds possess the flair characteristic of the third terraces of the Lot. A deep respect for the soil—and above all for the fruit’s ripeness—shines through in every bottle. The range is becoming increasingly refined, and even the classic vintages offer a Malbec that is supple and full of character.

Rated estate (2022 guide) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Wine Enthusiast)

About the wine:

A vineyard located on the third-highest terrace above the Lot River produces a 100% Malbec wine with powerful tannins and rich flavors of black plum. Aging in oak adds depth to this wine while preserving its tannic structure. Best enjoyed starting in 2026. Organic.

Review by Mr. Gilles D. Published on April 12, 2025

Expertly crafted and meticulously aged, this Gem immediately Gem with its breathtaking value for money and drinking pleasure. In addition to a strong character and a youthful yet already rounded tannic structure, this cuvée captivates as much with its beautiful volume and great depth as with its superb, juicy texture and velvety mouthfeel, punctuated by intense flavors of black fruit, a perfectly integrated toasty note, and a floral nuance, with just the right amount of acidity to round it out. It unfolds all the way to the finish, full-bodied yet refined, with notes of zest and cocoa. Perfectly pairs with duck à l’orange, or, if fresh black figs aren’t available, with candied black figs. Rating = 4.3.
