Rated estate (2026 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)
About the estate:
Cathy and Daniel Fournié took over this 30-hectare estate in 1998; it has been certified organic since 2012. As self-taught winemakers, they sought advice from neighboring vintners. They learned quickly and effectively, as evidenced by the regular selections featured in these pages. Their daughter Mathilde joined them in 2015.

Rated estate (2026 guide) 1*Star (Rising stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a good standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
Since 1998, Cathy and Daniel Fournié have been running this family-owned estate, joined in 2015 by their daughter Mathilde. With guidance from Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaeghe (Château du Cèdre), they showcase the third terraces of the Lot region. Their approach respects both the soil and the grapes’ ripeness, and each cuvée reflects this commitment to quality. The range continues to gain in precision: even the classic wines offer Malbecs that are refined, elegant, and full of energy.

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Published on April 12, 2025
Very well crafted and meticulously aged, this Gem immediately Gem with its breathtaking balance of quality, value, and drinking pleasure. In addition to its robust character and a youthful yet already well-rounded tannic structure, this cuvée captivates with its beautiful body and great depth, as well as its superb, juicy texture with a velvety mouthfeel, punctuated by intense flavors of black fruit, a perfectly integrated toasty note, and a floral nuance, with just the right amount of acidity to round it out. It blossoms right through to the finish, which is full-bodied yet refined, with notes of zan and cocoa. It pairs perfectly with duck à l’orange, especially if fresh candied black figs aren’t available. Rating = 4.3.
