"A bold black font!"

“A powerful bouquet with notes of dark fruit and spices, underpinned by a hint of minerality. With a rounded attack, it fills the palate with its full-bodied, rich, and complex structure. The tannic texture is of exceptional quality. Good aging potential.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022).

About the estate:

In the Ribes family, everyone has their place. Jean-Luc, a bluesman in his spare time, took over the family property in 1981, later joined by Frédéric and Cathy, and then by Pierre. The property covers 23 hectares of clay-limestone and gravelly soils.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 91/100

Rated 1*Star Estate (Rising stars or quality winemakers with good production levels, you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

Aged for 18 months in barrels, this Negrette, made with natural yeast, is expressive yet not overly varietal, built around natural fruit and fresh, vibrant tannins.

About the estate:

With the arrival of their young partners, Grégoire and Anne, the Ribes family has incorporated the vineyards of Château Flotis, a neighboring estate they already managed, into their Roc vineyard. Syrah and Négrette vines on a stony hillside have thus been added to the estate's holdings. The Bouysselet, grafted and vinified in barrels, yields an ambitious white wine; alongside it, the Négrette vines maintain their high standards thanks to meticulous and increasingly modern winemaking techniques.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 91/100

About the wine:

Just west of Toulouse and almost within the city limits, the Fronton appellation produces rich wines made from the Négrette grape. This smoky wine, with its ripe tannins and dense black fruit, is impressive and well-structured. It is still young and should be enjoyed starting in 2025.

Negrette is a very interesting grape variety. Even two days after opening, the wine remains pleasant and full-bodied.

Drank it too young. Need to let it age before giving a proper opinion. 2019 vintage, tasted in 2023. Needs to round out.

A wonderful find—fruity, floral, and complex—a truly lovely wine that pairs perfectly with couscous.
