Bettane & Desseauve
Winery rated 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Le Roc is one of Fronton's leading wines. The range is extensive, and each vintage of the top wines demonstrates that Fronton can produce wines with depth and real aging potential. This is proven with each new tasting of a wine from the estate that is over 10 years old, which always surprises with its youthfulness.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2026 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the estate:
In the Ribes family, everyone has their place. Jean-Luc, who is a blues musician in his spare time, took over the family estate in 1981 and was joined over time by his brother Frédéric and his wife Cathy, then by Pierre, and now by Anne and Grégoire, representing the latest generation. The estate now covers 35 hectares between Ch. le Roc (certified organic) and Ch. Flotis (in conversion to organic), taken over in 2018 by Fabienne and Raphaël Agosti but still vinified by the Ribes family.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated estate (2026 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
For many years, the Ribes family has been producing some of the most distinctive and memorable wines in the Fronton appellation. With the arrival of the younger generation, Grégoire and Anne, the vineyards of Château Flotis, a neighboring property that the family already operated, were incorporated into Le Roc. With admirable consistency, the Négrette grape variety displays its most original characteristics here, demonstrating its ability to evolve gracefully, particularly in the emblematic Don Quichotte cuvée, where Syrah also plays a role. But Haut du Bois, a new cuvée made from pure Négrette, has what it takes to steal the show... The grafted Bouysselet, vinified in barrels, asserts its character and ambition. Roc wines do you good! They make you feel so far removed from hollow elitism and pretensions of evanescent sophistication... The latest vintages are particularly convincing, so yes, such embodiment, rootedness, and pleasure deserve a second star!
