Wine rated (2018 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2023 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

Loin de l'Oeil 2015 is smooth, pastry-like, and easy to drink.

About the estate:

The Plageoles family has left its mark on the recent history of wine in Gaillac. Robert, then Bernard and Myriam, who brilliantly took over from him, were pioneers in defending local grape varieties and traditional winemaking techniques. The baton is gradually being passed on to Bernard's sons, Florent and Romain, who are wholeheartedly committed to the twelve varieties grown in their vineyard, including the delicious Prunelart, the extremely rare Verdanel, and the four varieties of Mauzac (green, red, pink, and black). Unfazed by trends and unconventional, the estate continues to produce exclusively single-varietal wines with strong personalities. This work of the mind, heart, and hands is fully reflected in a range of vintages that strive for purity, integrity, and originality.

Beautiful golden color. Superb nose (quince, brandy). Very nice balance of acidity and sugar on the palate with good length. It's simply delicious.

A honeyed wine, with a wonderfully fragrant aroma of apricot and citrus, I think. In short, a pure delight. Impossible not to have another glass!
