“Purple highlights illuminate the deep black color of this generous Madiran, with its aromas of ripe black fruit, crème de cassis, and spices. The attack is exceptionally smooth, the palate perfectly round and full-bodied, with all the fruitiness one would expect from a perfectly ripe harvest. The tannins are barely noticeable, so well-integrated are they, and the long finish leaves a flattering impression.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2021)

About the wine:
Purple highlights illuminate the deep black color of this Madiran, which is rich in aromas of ripe black fruit, blackcurrant cream, and spices. The attack is exceptionally smooth, with a perfectly rounded palate and lovely body, showcasing all the fruitiness one would expect from a perfectly ripe harvest. The tannins are barely noticeable, so well-integrated are they, and the long finish leaves a flattering impression.
About the estate:
In 1902, Hubert Dousseau acquired the estate. Since 1995, Brigitte and Corinne, his great-granddaughters, have been managing a 22-hectare organic vineyard there. They have converted a small Gascon house in the heart of the vineyards into a guesthouse. In 2023, the fifth generation (Nathan, Corinne’s son) joined the venture. A sure bet for both Madiran and Pacherenc-du-Vic-Bilh.

A burst of ripe fruit blends with spices to create a full-bodied, round, and smooth palate, supported by powerful, silky tannins that have mellowed with age. The finish is medium-length and savory. At its peak, this terroir-driven wine was paired with a southwestern salad featuring confit gizzards and smoked duck breast. Rating = 3.7.

I've been enjoying it for 40 years, and it's still as excellent as their Pacherenc

An excellent Madiran with notes of red fruit, best enjoyed young. Still, it has a lovely body. I haven't tried its "big brother," Les Noyers, yet.

"A remarkable bottle, typical of the appellation. Full-bodied and robust, it fills the mouth with texture and a lovely finish. A true RQP."

The nose is fairly subtle but elegant. Dark fruit bursts on the palate. A lingering finish. A pleasant overall impression. Excellent value for money.

A well-balanced wine with noticeable tannins... it lacks a bit of length on the palate to earn a higher score. But for the price, can we really ask for more?
