“Fresh hazelnut, almond, damp vegetal notes, a hint of mint, good structure, pure enjoyment, and a superb briny finish. Pair with fine seafood, smoked eel, and horseradish cream…” (Les Meilleurs Vins de France - Gault Millau). A charming, complex cuvée, with plenty of freshness and body, and a delicately salty finish... A beautiful Pacherenc!

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2012 guide) 15/20 (Good wine)
Rated estate (2023 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the wine:
Lively and energetic, the 2010 Pacherenc is a mouth-watering white wine with a briny finish.
About the estate:
Alain Brumont has forged his own distinctive style, sending wines from Madiran across the globe under the Château Montus label, which he acquired in 1980. Often bucking conventional wisdom, Brumont’s vintages showcase his great freedom in interpreting terroirs with yellow and red clay subsoils, varying in composition from 20% to 40%. Tannat is featured in the château’s three cuvées—Prestige, XL, Montus, and La Tyre—and undoubtedly delivers the most spectacular profile of this challenging Pyrenean grape.
