"Recognition for one of the world's finest Rieslings: a 100/100 Suckling rating for this extraordinary vintage in limited quantities!"

Nothing is more fundamental in the world than the interplay between light and darkness, and this wine brings that to your glass in a thoroughly compelling way. The minerality of this dry Riesling is incredibly intense. It is a giant in terms of originality, but it is at the upper end of medium-bodied, giving it a fantastic feeling of lightness. Extraordinary concentration and precision in an enchanting and totally fascinating finish. [...]" (James Suckling 2023)

Wine rated (2024 guide) 98/100

About wine:

The Riesling Westhofener Morstein Grosses Gewächs 2023 still shows a slight reduction of flint in its fresh nose, but with air, lemon comes to the fore and remains the center of attention. The palate is equally lemony and immediately projects a refreshing, moist, chalky depth. The mouthfeel is lean and sinks deep into this chalky depth. Scented with lemon and resting on a soothing citric yeast, the finish is totally zesty, precise, linear, immaculate, and very long. 2028-2060

Wine rated (2024 guide) 97/100

About wine:

A nose that is both refined and intense, with herbaceous notes, apple, pear skin, and bay leaf. On the palate, the complexity of Morstein is highlighted and interpreted in a refined and exciting way. Spicy, very intense, with fierce minerality.
