“The 2013 Bernkasteler Lay Riesling Kabinett has a pale lemon-yellow color and exudes crisp aromas of fresh grapes, yellow melon, and hints of exotic fruit. The wine is highly aromatic and luscious. It has a lovely minerality on the finish. ” (Wine Advocate 2015 - Robert Parker). Bernkasteler Lay is a vineyard classified as VDP Grosse Lage—the German equivalent of a Grand Cru. As for the “Kabinett” designation, it refers to the lightest and most delicate style of German Riesling. A wonderful discovery!

About the wine:

A hint of caramel adds a touch of sweetness to the aromas of yellow melon and mandarin in this lively wine. Though classified as semi-dry, it boasts high acidity and is enhanced by a gentle hint of stone fruit that brightens the long finish.

A disappointing wine. Lots of fizz and a hint of sweetness, with very ordinary aromas.
