Moselle

The steep, south-facing slopes of the Moselle create ideal conditions for growing Riesling, providing it with optimal sun exposure. The generally cool climatic conditions allow the grapes to ripen slowly while retaining their acidity. The rocky outcrops and stony soils reflect the sun’s rays and retain heat, thus creating a very warm microclimate in the best sites and facilitating excellent ripening. A thin topsoil layer forces the vines to draw their resources from deep, nutrient-rich soils. This results in lively wines that capture the soils’ strong minerality.
