"The estate's flagship wine from a meticulously crafted vintage"

“This Riesling comes from two plots of 70-year-old vines on the granite-rich section of the Kaefferkopf. It is the estate’s flagship cuvée. The bouquet displays minerality complemented by hints of sage and lime. The wine has a certain fullness as well as refreshing acidity. A Kaefferkopf that is beginning to reveal its terroir, but clearly shows that it needs time. A wine that is compelling both for its complexity and its persistence.” (Yves Beck 2023)

About the estate:

Located in Ammerschwihr, a major wine-growing village northwest of Colmar, this winery celebrated its 400th anniversary in 2014. Its 17th-century cellars house old oak barrels that are still in use. It combines a wine merchant operation with a biodynamically farmed vineyard.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

The Kaefferkopf Riesling combines vigor with a velvety richness: an intense, crisp, and lively wine that skillfully balances the sun-kissed richness of the vineyard. Undoubtedly the most accomplished vintage we have tasted.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 17/20

About the wine:

A savory aroma of spices and floury lees, with a hint of yeast, centered around ripe, creamy pears. On the palate, it is rich in citrus and pear flavors, balanced by a delightfully lively citrus acidity, with a firm texture that adds to its impressive length. The firm texture adds to the impressive length. The finish is almost chewy. A full-bodied wine, yet finely balanced and elegant in its power and breadth.

Rated estate (2019 guide) Recommended

About the wine:

Very youthful and subtle, this impressive dry Riesling combines ripeness, structure, and freshness with understated power. A full spectrum of citrus aromas, including hints of flowers, followed by a finish featuring a multitude of citrus zest notes and a delicate, chalky minerality, round out a very satisfying wine.
