Jean-Baptiste Adam
TheJean-Baptiste Adam Estate,a family of Alsatian winemakers passed down from father to son since 1614, is now in its 14th generation and is a leading name in Ammerschwihr.  Imbued with this rich heritage and expertise, the new generation continues to work in accordance with the traditions of the Alsace appellation while remaining in step with modern times and today’s challenges. Thus, in 2003, the estate gained new momentum with the transition to biodynamic viticulture and the modernization of the cellars and tasting room.

The pride ofMaison Jean-Baptiste Adam liesin the Kaefferkopf d’Ammerschwihr—a little-known yet renowned terroir since the Middle Ages—which was recognized as a Grand Cru d’Alsace in 2007. This 71-hectare terroir, perfectly sun-drenched south of Ammerschwihr, consists of several foothills of the Vosges at an altitude of 240 to 320 meters. The wines produced here are both distinguished and of great finesse.
This terroir, so dear toDomaine Jean-Baptiste Adamand the family, is expressed in three cuvées: Riesling Grand Cru Kaefferkopf, Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Kaefferkopf, and Kaefferkopf “Cuvée Traditionnelle.”

Two other terroirs are also highlighted byDomaine J.B. Adam: theGrand Cru Wineck Schlossbergand theLetzenberg terroir. The majority of the production consists of white wines made from traditional Alsatian grape varieties: Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, and the famous Pinot Noir for red wine production.
