Amélie & Charles Sparr - Riesling Altenbourg 2022
95/100
James Suckling
“Already very impressive today, it should continue to improve! (James Suckling)”
“Even the nose of this full-bodied dry Riesling from Alsace is dense and exotic, with floral and honey notes. Rich, full-bodied, and powerful, yet with a lovely clementine freshness. The fine tannins give this wine a surprisingly silky finish.” (James Suckling 2024)

Rated estate (2025 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
Founded in 2017, this estate is built on the legacy of vineyards brought together by the couple Amélie Buecher—who comes from a long line of winemakers—and Charles Sparr, the son of a family of wine merchants. Certified organic in 2017 and biodynamic in 2019, their vineyard includes four grand cru vineyards and offers a consistent range of authentic, unpretentious wines. Quality is improving rapidly, the Pinot Noirs shine, and the estate earned its first star this year.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 95/100
About the wine:
Even the nose of this great dry Riesling from Alsace is dense and exotic, with floral and honey notes. Rich, full-bodied, and powerful, yet with a lovely clementine-like freshness. The fine tannins give this wine a surprisingly silky finish. This wine is very impressive now, but it should improve with bottle aging. Made from biodynamically grown grapes certified by Demeter. Drink now or cellar.
