“The 2015 Pinot Gris Clos Zwingel boasts a bright, vivid lemon-colored hue. The wine offers a beautifully ripe and concentrated—yet also smoky—bouquet of fully ripe Pinot Gris berries, with notes of white pome fruits, as well as vegetal and spicy aromas (mustard seeds, caraway, and grains). Full-bodied, round, and highly elegant, this is a rich, concentrated, highly complex, and mineral-driven Pinot. It has beautiful structure, power, a certain smoothness, and fine yet firm tannins. About the estate:
Upon returning to the estate in 1999, Matthieu Boesch quickly decided to make the transition to organic and biodynamic farming, earning certification as early as 2006. However, while these sound practices are one thing, it took more time for the wines to find their balance in the glass—for the added acidity and tension to develop and harmonize over time. For the past two vintages, we’ve found that this is now the case. Good news!

About the estate:
As passionate advocates of biodynamics for over ten years, Matthieu and his wife Marie represent the eleventh generation of the Léon Boesch estate, located in the heart of the Vallée Noble. Here, the Zinnkoepflé grand cru is now dedicated exclusively to Gewürztraminer, with the aim of establishing it as a benchmark for a dry, full-bodied style. The estate has been practicing biodynamic agriculture since 2000, and the winery, inaugurated in Westhalten in 2010, is a bioclimatic model. The wines possess depth and perfectly express the region’s terroirs.
