Robert Parker

“Golden-yellow in color, the 2014 Bruderbach Le Menhir Pinot Gris offers a rich, intense, and spicy/lactic nose with hints of botrytis [...]. Full-bodied, round, and elegant, with a fairly smooth yet vibrant acidity, fine tannins, and a long minerality, this is an intense, vinous Pinot that is nonetheless pure, fresh, and mineral, grown on chalky sandstone soils and vinified dry. The finish is clean and displays beautiful intensity and length, as well as some notes of burnt milk. Try this Pinot with rich fish dishes. Ready to drink.” (Wine Advocate 2017 - Robert Parker)

Rated estate (2017 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

Étienne Loew is courageously working to raise awareness of the little-known terroirs of Westhalten, where very few winemakers bottle their own wine. Meticulous winemaking and extended aging (primarily in stainless steel tanks) result in pure, precise wines; the Rieslings are very dry.

Rated estate (2017 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

For several years now, this estate—skillfully managed by Etienne Loew—has captivated us with the consistency of its production and the exceptional quality of its wines. He has mastered the art of fully capturing the nuances of the soils around Westhoffen, and he tends to this somewhat isolated vineyard with the vigilance of a sentinel guarding his ramparts! His touch is sure, his approach open-minded, and his wines stand out for their elegance. A winery worth discovering.
