About the estate:
The work of Jean-Paul and Marie Zusslin, who carry on the family winemaking tradition dating back to 1691, has been exemplary for several years now. Based in Orschwihr, on a beautiful vineyard, they form a passionate, charismatic duo dedicated to a job well done. And they’re taking on more and more projects: designing a new bottle, installing dozens of beehives and birdhouses throughout the vineyards.... Each has their own role: Marie handles marketing, while Jean-Paul works in the vineyards and the cellar. Biodynamic viticulture since 1997, meticulous winemaking, and precise aging sum up the work of this leading estate, where the focus on individual plots is ever-present, even in the crémants. The excellence of their lineup suggests they may rise in our rankings!

A wine with a lovely light yellow color, sparkling in the glass. The nose offers notes of wet rock, with subtle hints of lemon and flowers. This Riesling is well-balanced, with the palate dominated by minerality and white fruit. The whole is presented with finesse and distinction. The acidity on the initial taste is very moderate, giving way to a soft, full-bodied mouthfeel. It has good length, but it lacks the liveliness needed to be a true Riesling. I’m deducting one point from my rating.
