Valentin Zusslin - Riesling Bollenberg 2014

"The 2014 Bollenberg Riesling presents ripe, concentrated (stone) fruit aromas in a spicy, fresh and smoky bouquet of broken rocks. Full-bodied, round and creamy, this is a powerful, intense Riesling that is also pure, elegant and fine, with lively acidity and lovely mineral tension. The finish is lng and powerful, but also tannic and a little closed at the moment." (Wine Advocate 2017 - Robert Parker)

About the domain :
Jean-Paul and Marie Zusslin, who continue the family winegrowing tradition that began in 1691, have been exemplary for some years now. Based in Orschwihr, in a beautiful vineyard, they form a passionate, charismatic duo, dedicated to a job well done. And they're multiplying their projects: designing a new bottle, setting up dozens of beehives and nesting boxes in the plots... Each has his own role: Marie in marketing, Jean-Paul in the vines and the cellar. Biodynamic viticulture since 1997, meticulous winemaking and precise ageing sum up the work of this benchmark domaine, where the spirit of the parcel is omnipresent, even in the crémants. The excellence of the range may well mean a rise in our rankings!

Attractive, bright yellow color in the glass. Nose of wet rock, slightly lemony and floral. Good balance in this Riesling, dominated on the palate by minerality and white fruit. All with finesse and distinction. Very moderate acidity on entry, followed by a mellow fullness. Good length, but lacks the vivacity to make a true Riesling. My rating has been reduced by one point.
