Valentin Zusslin - Riesling Bollenberg 2014

"The 2014 Riesling Bollenberg presents ripe, concentrated fruit (stone fruit) aromas in a spicy, fresh, and smoky bouquet of broken rocks. Full-bodied, round, and creamy, this is a powerful and intense Riesling, but also pure, elegant, and refined, with lively acidity and beautiful mineral tension. The finish is long and powerful, but also tannic and a little closed at the moment." (Wine Advocate 2017 - Robert Parker)

Wine rated (2017 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2021 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
The work of Jean-Paul and Marie Zusslin, who are continuing the family winemaking tradition that began in 1691, has been exemplary for several years now. Based in Orschwihr, on a beautiful vineyard, they form a passionate, charismatic duo who are committed to a job well done. And they have many projects in the pipeline: designing a new bottle, installing dozens of beehives and nesting boxes in the vineyards...Each has their role: Marie handles marketing, Jean-Paul works in the vineyards and the cellar. Biodynamic viticulture since 1997, careful vinification, and precise aging sum up the work of this benchmark estate, where the spirit of the vineyard is omnipresent, even in the crémants. The excellence of the range may well lead to a rise in our rankings!
