It was in the heart of this well-known valley with great potential that Zorik Gharibian, an Armenian and native of the region, decided in 2006 to found the Zorah estate near the village of Rind. The Zorah vineyard is managed according to the principles of organic farming. It mainly features grape varieties that are endemic to this region, the cradle of wine, and are not grafted: Areni for red wines, Voskèak and Garandmak for white wines. In fact, the Vayots Dzor region has never been affected by phylloxera thanks to its poor sandy and limestone soils, which allow vines to be planted ungrafted.
The wines are fermented using indigenous yeasts and are generally aged in large containers for better integration of the wood, as well as in amphorae. It is a region with great potential, which Zorik Gharibian has managed to bring out through Zorah.
