B.C.
It was in the heart of this renowned valley, rich in potential, that Zorik Gharibian—an Armenian native of the region—decided in 2006 to establish the Zorah winery, near the village of Rind. The Zorah vineyard is managed according to the principles of organic farming. It primarily highlights the native grape varieties of this cradle of wine, which are ungrafted: Areni for red wines, Voskèak and Garandmak for white wines. In fact, the Vayots Dzor region has never been affected by phylloxera thanks to its poor, sandy, limestone soils, which allow for the planting of ungrafted vines.
The wines are fermented using native yeasts and are typically aged in large tanks to allow for better integration of the oak, as well as in amphorae. This is a region with great potential, which Zorik Gharibian has successfully brought to life through Zorah.
