Produced from granitic soils bordering Fleurie, this cuvée is a blend of Syrah and Gamay. With its bright garnet color, the nose is intense and very seductive with lovely notes of strawberry and raspberry of great purity. The attack on the palate is very velvety, followed by great smoothness and a fresh finish. This devastatingly charming wine will seduce even novices. It can be enjoyed now with a roast chicken or grilled fish.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2021 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Formerly a wine-growing estate owned by the monks of Cluny, Château des Bachelards covers 12 hectares, including 6 hectares in Fleurie, in a single block around the château; the rest is spread across the Moulin-à-Vent and Saint-Amour vineyards. It is owned by Countess Alexandra de Vazeilles, who, after a career in business consulting, bought the property in 2014. Notably, the vineyard has been certified organic since 2007, and it was the Countess of Vazeilles who led it towards biodynamic certification in 2015 and then, in 2017, towards obtaining the Fermes d'Avenir label. Alexandra de Vazeilles has a strong personality, an entrepreneurial spirit, and an iron will, which sometimes clashes with the secretive and change-averse spirit of winemaking. One need only taste a few of the estate's vintages to grasp the unique personality of this prominent estate. The young 2016 wines are remarkable for their structure and precision. The use of wood is not taboo for the countess, but rather the signature of fine wines built for aging. Isn't that one of the attributes reserved for great wines?

About the estate:
A graduate in oenology, Alexandra de Vazeilles acquired this beautiful property in 2014. She cut her teeth at prestigious estates in Burgundy and Bordeaux. The entire vineyard, which ranges in age from 60 to over 100 years old, has been certified biodynamic since 2015. She seeks density in her wines, while maintaining a true finesse. The vinification process, which is adapted to each vintage, allows her to achieve this.
