"The subtlety of Gamay at unbeatable value for money"

Produced from old vines planted on old granite and schist soils on the La Chanaise plot, this Morgon is extremely refined. The palate retains a freshness filled with red berries on the attack, the tannins are mellow and it develops tertiary aromas of cocoa. A very nice Morgon!

Bettane & Desseauve

3-star rating (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

A leading figure in Beaujolais in general and Morgon in particular, Dominique Piron, now joined by his partner Julien Révillon, has developed a solid range of Beaujolais wines. Seven crus are represented across more than 100 hectares, with a logical majority of Morgons. With a refined style and expressive noses, while retaining the stylistic signature of their origin, the estate's wines are all successful.

About the estate:

Heir to 14 generations of winegrowers, Dominique Piron handed over the reins of the family estate to Julien Revillon, his partner since 2013, in 2020. Revillon now manages around 50 hectares, divided between his own vineyards and grapes purchased for the wine merchant side of the business.

Rated estate (2024 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Julien Revillon, assisted by his talented oenologist Pierre Meunier, continues Dominique Piron's work with consistency and panache. The duo is assisted by vineyard manager Thibaud Lemaître, who is essential for overseeing an estate covering 90 hectares. Their joint efforts have improved the quality of the grapes, and the selective vineyard management they have implemented is beginning to bear fruit. We are impressed by the consistency of the range and its cornerstones: spontaneous fruit, sweetness, and the precise definition of each vintage.

Review and opinion by Mr. MATHIEU W. Published on 04/13/2025

Ruby color with lots of purple in the core. On the nose, red fruit, raspberries, crushed red berries, earthy notes, and something floral. Pure Gamay, pure Beaujolais, so recognizable. On the palate, a small explosion of red berries, sour cherries, and some unripe raspberries, grip from gripping and fine acids. The earthy character comes through here too. Character, typicity, and drinking pleasure. A ready-to-go Morgon. Not too complicated or pretentious. Delicious with roasted chicken legs with baked potatoes and salad. Score: 15.5/20
