17,5/20
Bettane & Desseauve
"Produced from old vines grown on granite soil, L'Héritage-du-Tremblay develops a very delicate, floral bouquet with notes of fresh berries. Surprisingly fresh on the palate, with great smoothness. Long, refined finish with well-integrated, solid tannins. A very attractive wine." (Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins 2018)

About wine:
Héritage du Tremblay reveals ripe fruit, with a hint of graphite adding depth. A successful harvest gives it its brilliance and high-quality finish.
About the estate:
Since 1937, the Paul Janin et Fils estate has been producing Moulin-à-Vent and Beaujolais-Villages red and white wines. Eric Janin, the current owner, represents the fourth generation. He inherited a series of investments that have made the estate so successful today. In 1937, his grandfather bought the famous Tremblay vineyard, and in 1967, his father acquired what is now the estate's flagship cuvée: the century-old Greneriers vineyards. Eric Janin is also the father of young Perrine, who is studying oenology and is continuing to make the investments necessary to ensure the estate's long-term future. This involves, in particular, mass selection to gradually renew the estate's old vines. The vintage has had a string of difficult years, and Éric Janin has not escaped the violent hailstorms that have devastated the vineyard over the last three years. In order to preserve what has built the estate's reputation, purchases from other producers now complete the range. These wines are of a more classic style and are well made. As for the estate's stars, they are limited in quantity but do not disappoint in quality. In 2018, Vignes-du-Tremblay and Greneriers are magnificent successes.

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated estate (2024 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
The location and age of the vines are not everything. You also need the common sense of a farmer and the analytical skills of someone like Éric Janin to produce great Gamays that are concentrated and fresh. Since his first harvest in 1983, he has maintained a winemaking style that showcases the climats mainly located in the Moulin-à-Vent cru. Some vineyards, such as Les Greneriers, have survived two world wars. In 2017, Éric Janin set up a wine trading business with partner winegrowers. Chénas, Brouilly, and Beaujolais-Villages now complete his range.
