Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 91/100 (2020 vintage)
Rated estate (2024 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the estate:
Cédric Lecareux and his wife Catherine founded the Capréoles estate in July 2014 with three hectares of contiguous vineyards, an area expanded by two hectares two years later. From Beaujolais-Villages to Cru Régnié, everything is highly recommended, with, in our opinion, more refined aging profiles. A wonderful place to visit.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2024 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
Cédric Lecareux—who hails from Languedoc-Roussillon, where he worked at the Gérard Bertrand Group’s estates—and his wife, a native of Beaujolais, purchased this 250-year-old estate in 2014. They cultivate 8 hectares of organic vineyards laid out like a garden around the property, with an exceptional view of the two bell towers of Régnié-Durette.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2023 guide) 90/100 (2020 vintage)
Rated Estate (2024 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
Cédric Lecareux is one of those new-generation winemakers shaking up the Beaujolais region. After serving as technical director for a major Languedoc wine merchant for six harvests, he settled in Régnié with his wife Catherine—an agricultural engineer like himself—on a neglected vineyard. Upon their arrival in 2014, they began the process of obtaining organic certification, which was granted in 2017. Adhering to the maxim “The rule is that there are no rules,” they adapt their destemming and aging methods each year.
