“Another fine series of Bordeaux wines from the Despagne estate, displaying impeccable consistency in quality. Leading the lineup is this delightfully rich Bel Air Perponcher, whose aromatic profile captivates from the very first sip: blackberry, blackcurrant, violet, and spicy, toasty notes. These aromas are sustained with intensity by a full-bodied, smooth, and supple palate, supported by velvety tannins and a subtle acidity that lends it vibrancy. Already delicious, this Bordeaux will age well.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019) A success!

About the estate:
Formerly owned by the Perponcher family, who were forced to flee to Holland after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes, it was acquired in 1990 by the Despagne estate. A vineyard situated on a clay-siliceous plateau overlooking the Dordogne, it is a must-try in Bordeaux (in all three colors), Bordeaux Supérieur, and Entre-deux-Mers.

Not my cup of tea. Pretty short, not much flavor. Meh, not great.
