“Another fine selection of Bordeaux wines from the Despagne estate, demonstrating impeccable consistency in quality. Leading the lineup is this delightfully rich Bel Air Perponcher, whose aromatic profile captivates from the very first sip: blackberry, blackcurrant, violet, and hints of spice and toast. These aromas are intensely prolonged by a full-bodied, smooth, and supple palate, supported by velvety tannins and a subtle acidity that gives it vitality. Already delicious, this Bordeaux will age well.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019) A success!

About the wine:
Another fine selection of Bordeaux wines from the Despagne estate, showcasing impeccable consistency in quality. Leading the lineup is this delightfully rich Bel Air Perponcher, whose aromatic profile captivates from the very first sip: blackberry, blackcurrant, violet, and hints of spice and toast. These aromas are prolonged with intensity by a full-bodied, smooth, and supple palate, supported by velvety tannins and a subtle acidity that gives it vitality. Already delicious, this Bordeaux will age well.
About the estate:
Formerly owned by the Perponcher family, who were forced to flee to Holland following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes, the estate was acquired in 1990 by the Despagne family. A vineyard situated on a clay-siliceous plateau overlooking the Dordogne River, it is a must-try in Bordeaux (in all three styles), Bordeaux Supérieur, and Entre-deux-Mers.

Not my cup of tea. Pretty short and lacking in flavor. Meh, not great
