Yves Beck
"Perfectly balanced, with the crisp, pure aromas of Sauvignon Blanc giving way to the rich, full-bodied character of Sémillon!"
“Sémillon dominates the blend alongside Sauvignon Blanc in this exquisite dry white wine from the renowned Sauternes producer. On the nose, it offers aromas of lemongrass, cut grass, and lime. On the palate, it combines vibrancy and creaminess, with notes of grapefruit and coconut cream, and a long, vibrant finish.” (Decanter 2025)

Nose
On the first sniff, it opens with notes of pink grapefruit, orange, and white flowers. After swirling, the aroma becomes more complex and gains depth: lemon, passion fruit, and juniper
Palate
A soft, delicate attack, with a dense, smooth mid-palate. A long, mouth-watering finish, perfectly highlighted by well-balanced acidity. A perfectly balanced wine, characterized by the great purity of Sauvignon Blanc aromas, which give way on the palate to the full richness of Sémillon.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide): 4 stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the estate:
The château is owned by four partners: Robert Peugeot, Xavier Planty (who manages the estate), Stephan von Neipperg, and Olivier Bernard. Certified organic since 2011 and home to a truly unique collection of Aquitaine white grape varieties (175 clones of Sauvignon and Sémillon), Guiraud leads the way in sustainable viticulture in the Sauternes region. Here, perfectly botrytized grapes are harvested with precision to produce two types of sweet wine. The grand vin, full of finesse and evolving fairly quickly in the bottle, and the Petit-Guiraud, deliberately less rich but perfect as an aperitif, as one can see in the very elegant restaurant-brasserie the estate has just opened. The dry Bordeaux G is less appealing, clean but too simple for the terroir.

Rated estate (2020 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
This Sauternes Premier Cru Classé is now owned by four co-owners: Robert Peugeot, Olivier Bernard (Domaine de Chevalier), Stephan Von Neipperg (Château Canon-la-Gaffelière), and Xavier Planty. Under the skilled leadership of Xavier Planty, the wine has, for many vintages now, been a perfect example of a great modern Sauternes—rich and complex, very approachable from its early years, and having gained tremendous finesse and minerality. Viticulture here is meticulously managed; in fact, Guiraud was the first of the 1855 First Growths to receive organic certification, in 2011. With tremendous dedication, the estate manages to respect the natural development of noble rot. As for winemaking, it strictly avoids any chaptalization—as should be the case for all classified growths—a cause championed by Xavier Planty. The Château also produces, on unclassified Sauternes terroirs within the Bordeaux appellation, a significant volume of a dry white wine meant to be enjoyed in its prime youth.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 92-93/100
About the wine:
With good intensity, the bouquet of Guiraud’s dry white wine stands out for its subtlety. It reveals pleasant notes of white flowers, anise, and mirabelle plums. Slightly creamy on the palate, the wine is precise, delicious, and endowed with a structuring acidity, while subtle hints of bitterness enhance the freshness and length of the finish. 2025–2038
