Château Malromé
Château Malromé is a very old estate and the former family home of the painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Since 2005 and the change of ownership, Château Malromé has been on its way to becoming one of the best, if not the benchmark, estates in the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. The Château Malromé vineyard covers approximately 40 hectares of vines on an exceptional terroir composed of clay-gravel alluvium deposited during the formation of the Pyrenean Rift Valley, which gave rise to the Garonne River.
The Château Malromé estate is now owned by Charles Traonouëz , who cultivates his vines by combining quality production with respect for the environment and the terroir. Yields are deliberately controlled through meticulous care of the vines throughout their growing cycle, including bud thinning, leaf removal, shoot thinning, and green harvesting. The emphasis is placed on achieving optimal grape ripeness. Château Malromé wines are made using traditional Bordeaux methods: the reds are made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec grapes and benefit from extended aging in oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, depending on the vintage. The whites, vinified and aged in barrels, are made from Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle grapes, which respectively impart richness, vibrancy, and floral aromas.
