"Very delicate, elegant, and juicy, with a refined fruitiness reminiscent of Ente plums. Silky and playful, the palate already plays with the wood to reveal very delicate fruit and velvety tannins. A balanced, mouthwatering wine, made for pleasure and to last. (Le Figaro 2022) - A delicious red Bordeaux belonging to Pierre Lurton, director of Châteaux d'Yquem and Cheval Blanc!

3-star rating (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
Pierre Lurton, who is also director of Château Cheval Blanc and president of Château d'Yquem, bought Château Marjosse more than twenty years ago, attracted by the old vines and the quality of the terroir: something quite rare in Entre-Deux-Mers, the asteriated limestone, the same that makes Saint-Émilion famous, is found here at the surface. The quality and consistency of this wine, both white and red, is astonishing. The wines are remarkably balanced and pure. They have vibrant fruit, a silky and harmonious texture, and are very drinkable while also showing great aging potential.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 90/100
About wine:
Chewy, biting, and full-bodied, this is a fleshy, plump style with a bouncy palate and rich, concentrated flavors—blackcurrant, red cherry, and pomegranate. Hints of salinity appear on the finish, a wine that has a lot to offer. It is a bold wine that leaves no one indifferent and has more weight on the mid-palate than others, which bodes well for its future aging. Sculpted and somewhat muscular, but with lots of energy. I like this wine. 2024-2028

About wine:
Beautiful dark, vivid color. Fruity nose, seductive in its smoothness. Caressing on the attack, melting in the mid-palate, this very well-made wine caresses the palate, leaving a sensation of freshness, velvety smoothness, and lots of flavor. Lovely lingering aroma. A superb outsider. Yield: 35 hl/ha. Harvested from September 28 to October 12.

In a less hot vintage, Marjosse has pulled it off. A mellow wine that is very pleasant to drink.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 07/11/2024
Far from reaching the level of excellence of its predecessors in 2018, 2019, and 2020, the 2021 Marjosse continues to surprise with a straightforward profile and rather light alcohol content, which I was not used to. The palate is distinguished by its richness in fruity and woody flavors, its fleshy and dynamic texture, and the fine grain of its refined tannins. The latter combine with a smooth finish marked by a chalky freshness. A lovely everyday Bordeaux to accompany a filet mignon with the first parsley-scented chanterelle mushrooms. Rating = 3.9.
