Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2023 guide) 91-92/100
Rated 3 stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
Charming, with delicious, lingering tannins. A fine red wine from this vintage for the estate.
About the estate:
Pierre Lurton, who is also director of Château Cheval Blanc and president of Château d’Yquem, purchased Château Marjosse more than twenty years ago, drawn by the old vines and the quality of the terroir: a rarity in the Entre-Deux-Mers region, the asterian limestone—the same that has made Saint-Émilion famous—lies just below the surface here. The quality and consistency of this wine, both white and red, are astonishing. The wines display remarkable balance and purity. They feature vibrant fruit, a silky and harmonious texture, and are highly drinkable while also showing excellent aging potential.

About the wine:
Marjosse 2022, from Pierre Lurton’s Entre-Deux-Mers estate, offers a briny bouquet with notes of blackcurrant and wild hedgerows. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a fresh attack, supple tannins, and a hint of black pepper and graphite on the finish. Is this the best bargain in Bordeaux? Most likely. It is a must-buy wine. 2025–2033
