“Always outstanding—this is a magnificent white wine that deserves your full attention! ~ Jeb Dunnuck”

“Marjosse Blanc 2023 is delicious. Crisp, lively, and inviting, the 2023 will make a delightful aperitif white wine in the coming years. Crushed stone, mint, white pepper, and lime bring lovely nuances throughout the tasting. The floral top notes and tropical nuances really burst through on the finish. ” (Vinous 2024) - Pierre Lurton, director of the Yquem and Cheval Blanc estates, is the owner of this Gem as an aperitif or paired with a seafood platter.

Rated 3 stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Pierre Lurton, who is also director of Château Cheval Blanc and president of Château d’Yquem, purchased Château Marjosse more than twenty years ago, drawn by the old vines and the quality of the terroir: a rarity in the Entre-Deux-Mers region, the asterian limestone—the same that has made Saint-Émilion famous—lies just below the surface here. The quality and consistency of this wine, both white and red, are astonishing. The wines display remarkable balance and purity. They feature vibrant fruit, a silky and harmonious texture, and are highly drinkable while also showing excellent aging potential.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 92/100

About the wine:

Although it initially exhibits distinct varietal aromas, with Sauvignon Blanc taking center stage, as it settles in the glass, I appreciate the energy and subtle opulence from the Sémillon, which offers notes of white stone fruit, as well as lemon zest and plenty of invigorating freshness on the medium-length finish. Aged for several months on the lees in concrete tanks, with regular stirring, and only 5% aged in oak barrels. A wine to enjoy on its own or with pan-seared scallops and risotto. 2025–2030

Review by Mr. Gilles D. Published on May 14, 2025

Harmonious and elegant, this white wine combines moderate liveliness, density, intensity, and aromatic complexity, dominated by citrus and floral notes. With a full-bodied, crisp, and rich texture, it evolves smoothly into a beautifully lingering finish, enhanced by a welcome hint of salinity combined with subtle mineral bitterness. Well-crafted and offering surprising value for money. A true delight paired with a starter of white asparagus and langoustine tails, followed by sole meunière drizzled with melted butter and served with steamed potatoes. Rating = 4.
